Caroline Garnaat is a visual artist with a career background in graphic design, painting and art therapy.
Originally from the UK, she has lived and worked in Rochester since 1989 and for 10 years was a partner in the Fairport based studio Artichoke Design, specializing in murals and decorative painting. Now working exclusively in the area of fine art, Caroline’s focus has been mainly in portraiture, drawing inspiration from Lucian Freud and Les Nabis, and for her more decorative work Matisse and Klimt. Her goal in portraiture is to capture the emotional essence of her subjects and to weave a visual narrative around them.
